Cancor Mines

The Cancor management team listed below consists of leading figures in the mining, legal and financial sectors. This diverse and sophisticated group is largely responsible for Cancor’s accomplishments and will be instrumental in the future growth of the company.

Kamil Khobzi, eng., MBA

Mr. Kamil Khobzi is President of Cancor Mines Inc and has been a Director of the Corporation since 1993. Mr. Khobzi holds a Master's degree in mining geology from the Mining Institute of St. Petersburg (1975), a Master's degree in project management and business administration from the University of Quebec in Montreal (1993). Mr Khobzi was Vice-President of the Association des Explorateurs Miniers du Québec (2001-2005) and is President of an advisory committee for Géologie Québec whose mandate, amongst other things, is to report to the Minister of Natural Resources regarding the Mining industry in Quebec. In 1998 Mr. Khobzi and Cancor were awarded the title of Prospector of the Year.

Mr. Ercan Ugur became a director of the Corporation in 2000 and has been Secretary-Treasurer of the Corporation since 1993. He is CFO of Yorbeau Resources Inc., a mining company listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Mr. Ugur holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Bosphorus, Istanbul, Turkey, and has been working in the mining industry since 1982.

Mr. David Crevier became a Director of the Corporation in 1989 and is the Chairman of the Board. He holds degrees in Civil and Common Law from McGill University and is a senior partner at the law firm Colby, Monet, Demers, Delage & Crevier. Mr. Crevier is also a Director of Yorbeau Resources Inc. which is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, as well as of Diagnos Inc. and Diagem Inc. which are listed on the TSX-V. Mr Crevier has been involved in the mining industry for over 20 years.

René Dufour

Mr René Dufour was elected a director of the Corporation in 1991. He has served on the Board of Directors of mining companies such as Noranda Inc. (1988-2002) and SOQUEM. He founded NIOCAN INC. in 1995 and was Chairman of the Board and CEO until 2005. Mr.Dufour was a professor and Director of the Mineral Engineering Department of Ecole Polytechnique de Montréal. Mr Dufour also served as an advisor to the World Bank, The United Nations, Hydro-Quebec, the CIDA, the QSC and numerous mining companies. In 1972 Mr. Dufour was a founding member of the Canadian Mining and Metallurgical Foundation; he served as its Chairman from 1991-1997 and is still a trustee of the organisation. He is Past President of the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIMMP), and he was President of the CIM Centennial Corporation from 1994 to 1999. In 2003 Mr.Dufour was awarded the Grand Prix of Excellence from the Quebec Order of Engineers which represents 50 000 engineers. This award recognised his career and his exceptional contribution to the development of the Canadian mining industry.

Mr. Gabor Jellinek became a Director of the Corporation on June 18, 2003. He is president of G.J. Holdings Inc., a private investment company. He was Vice President of the Seagram Company Ltd From 1987 to 1999 and served as Chairman of Joseph E. Seagram and Sons Limited between 1991 and 1999. Mr. Jellinek holds a Diploma in Management from McGill University and a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University, Budapest, Hungary.

Mr. Kenneth Lester became a Director of the Corporation in 2003. He is President of Lester Asset Management, a private investment company. Mr Lester is an adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Management of McGill University in Montreal. He holds a Master’s degree in Education and History from Rhode Island College and a Bachelor’s degree in History from Concordia University. Mr. Lester is licensed by the Autorité des Marchés financiers (Quebec’s securities commission) to act as a discretionary Investment Counselor.

Denis Francoeur

Mr. Denis Francoeur became a director of the Corporation on September 5, 2007. He is President of Diagem Inc. a Canadian mining company listed on The TSX -V. Mr. Francoeur is a practicing geologist with over 30 years of varied exploration experience in Canada, Central and South America and Africa. He recently held senior positions with RNC Gold Inc. and Tango Mineral Resources. Mr. Francoeur spent 18 years at Noranda and was involved in the discovery of four blind VMS base metal deposits (Norita East, Isle Dieu, Bell Allard South and Orchan West) in the Matagami mining camp as well as the discovery of four gold deposits (Silidor, Harker-Holloway, Glimmer gold and Eagle River), in the Abitibi Volcanic Belt of Quebec and Ontario. All but one achieved commercial production. In 1987, Mr. Francoeur and his exploration team were the recipients of the 1987 Prospector of the Year Award. The award came in recognition of the discovery of three new ore bodies in Northwestern Quebec. Mr. Francoeur is fluent in French, English and Spanish.

Mr. Florent Baril became a director of the Corporation on September 5, 2007. He is founder and President of Bumigeme Inc., a Montreal-based engineering firm which engages in geological appraisals, feasibility studies and turnkey operations. Mr. Baril is a metallurgical engineer with over 30 years of experience in the mining industry. A highly experienced mine manager, Mr.Baril has started up several mining operations in Canada and abroad. He has directed numerous feasibility studies for mining projects in Canada, South America, Mexico, and Africa. Mr. Baril has also acted for the World Bank, the Bank of African Development, and CIDA.
